2014.

I wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year.    Regards,   Adrian.

02-02-2014  Lots of work updating websites an placing the Photography Club on the Meetup website.

10-02-2014  Could not help but laugh when I saw this on Facebook................

20-02-2014  Today is Major Oak Day, or Hayman Rookes birthday,  it you are lost on that see the 20th February on the navigation panel.

12-04-2014  Edwinstowe is caught up in a storm with regard to it's allotments and the Parish Council are determined that tenants of the allotment site will obey orders.  The PC are extremely belligerent,  throwing their weight around and inciting residents of the Village into hatred over this matter.  Questions are being asked as to why the PC should act in this manner,  and do they have some form of hidden motive for gaining control of the allotments,  perhaps they want to put a road straight through the middle of the allotments into Naishes Field for the new Visitor Centre,  so getting rid of tenants would be easier if they were at the helm,  who knows.  Fact is this has spilled out into the media and we are getting some very biased reports in the newspapers.  On top of this Thoresby Colliery may close faster than the speed of light, and as the country is set to be overtaken with fracking it's my guess that Deep Coal Mining and Fracking activities are incompatible so all the Deep Mines in the UK will have to close,  yes all 3 of then will have to go as it will be far to dangerous to win coal when Shale Gas is being extracted from underneath the coal seams,  the danger of a fracture and gas escaping up into the mine above the shale bed and the consequences of miners being gassed is too great to contemplate.

15-04-2014  The plight of Thoresby Colliery and the miners working there.............

16-04-2014  Yesterday I was sent an offensive email from a resident of Edwinstowe containing threats and obscenities,  I have dealt with the matter and the senders partner has been informed about this and given a full copy of the text involved.  This is a situation I will not tolerate under any circumstances, should the sender even think of causing trouble in any way shape or form the communication will be handed to the Police for action.

I appreciate feelings are running high especially with regard to the allotments but there is no excuse for this sort of behaviour and even less so when you take into account I was gearing up to help the residents of Edwinstowe with this matter.

UPDATE....  This is getting closer to the Police being notified about this matter,  this mans partner is now accusing me of sending a nasty email to him,  one more response and that's it,  really sick and tired of it,  the least I could have expected was a profound apology, but no just allegations about sending a nasty email, what utter rubbish,  she should see some of the previous correspondence that nigh on resulted in action against this chap.  EMAILS CONTAINING OFFENSIVE OR OBSCENE COMMENTS WILL IN FUTURE BE HANDED DIRECTLY TO THE POLICE FOR ACTION.

If you live in Edwinstowe and are experiencing problems with regard to Thoresby Colliery, the Allotments or any other matter relating to the Village or have any concerns regarding our policies or remit over these matters you are welcome to contact me  ..... adrian@majoroak.org.uk

28-07-2014  All websites have been disrupted by server problems for over a week now.

11-10-2014  Back from the Outer Hebrides and looking forward to next years adventures.  Apologies for the disruption regarding our websites, our host in the States leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to customer care.

11/11/2014.

  Remembrance Day

They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;
age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning,
we will remember them.

   Remembrance Day for Scotland

Chan shàs iad aosd
mar a dh’fhàsas sinne a th’air ar fàgail aosd
Cha bhi iad claoidhte agus a’ seargadh le aois
Ag àm dol fodha na grèine agus anns a mhadainn
cuimhnichidh sinn orra

Short Prayer

A Thighearna, cùm iad faisg agus dìon a chaoidh gu bràth
Amen.

Gaelic translation with grateful thanks to Mrs Margaret MacLeod,  Isle of Lewis.

24-12-2014  A very Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year to everyone,  If you want to join our number then please do not hesitate,  Cheers, Adrian.
